What we learn in practice is always much more thorough and complex than what we could put into words.
— Sönke Ahrens
Learning is a creative, artistic endeavor that cannot be planned in advance. The process must allow for thinking, doing, failing, reflecting and a whole host of other activities that are nonlinear in nature. A coach may guide and enlighten with goals and systems, but we must do the heavy lifting to learn.
The body grows stronger in response to the repeated stress-recovery adaptation cycle of physical activity. The brain grows more efficient by establishing new neural pathways in response to repeated patterns of behavior. The heart grows more resilient with the visceral highs and lows of success, failure and introspection.
All of these things must be lived to be of true value, for mere words provide but a taste of what must be experienced!
